  • Labrie Family Skate at Puddle Dock Pond Kicks Off 10th Anniversary Season with opening on “Frozen Friday” on November 29

    Strawbery Banke Museum’s outdoor skating rink, Labrie Family Skate at Puddle Dock Pond, is ready to welcome the community back for its 10th anniversary season. The 2024–2025 season is set to open with “Frozen Friday” on November 29, 2024, at 9 AM, weather permitting.

  • The Roger R. and Theresa S. Thompson Endowment Fund Awards Grant to Strawbery Banke Museum

    The Roger R. and Theresa S. Thompson Endowment Fund announces the awarding of $119,000 in grants to six non-profit organizations in New Hampshire and Maine. The Trustees of the Trust approved a grant to Strawbery Banke Museum to create the Cousins Family exhibit in Penhallow House, an immersive and multi-sensory experience and the first time the Museum has presented the story of a 20th-century Black family in Portsmouth

  • Strawbery Banke Marks 10 Years of Labrie Family Skate at Puddle Dock Pond with a Special Celebration Event

     Strawbery Banke Museum invites the community to come together for the 10th anniversary of Labrie Family Skate at Puddle Dock Pond. Join the Museum on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:30 PM (with a weather date of Thursday, December 12) to mark this milestone with an evening of skating, music, food, and drinks. Tickets are available at StrawberyBanke.org/tenth-anniversary.

  • Strawbery Banke Invites the Community to Sponsor a Tree at Candlelight Stroll 2024

    Strawbery Banke recently announced the return of the Grove of Sponsored Holiday Trees for this year’s Candlelight Stroll, held on the weekends of December 6-8, 13-15, and 20-22, 2024. The Museum invites local businesses, non-profit organizations, and individuals to sponsor and decorate one of the 35 available trees that will brighten the Museum grounds.

  • Strawbery Banke Museum Presents Harvest Celebrations: A History of Thanksgiving Guided Tours

    This November, Strawbery Banke Museum invites visitors to explore the history of Thanksgiving traditions in America through the Harvest Celebrations: A History of Thanksgiving Guided Tours. Offered on select dates throughout November and the first weekend of December, this guided tour traces the evolution of Thanksgiving over three centuries, bringing to life the diverse ways the holiday has been celebrated.

  • Ghosts Return to Strawbery Banke: A Family-Friendly Halloween Experience, October 24-27

    Strawbery Banke Museum invites families to trick-or-treat safely in the historic Puddle Dock neighborhood at Ghosts on the Banke, running from Thursday, October 24 through Sunday, October 27, 2024. Tickets are limited and available online at StrawberyBanke.org/ghosts. Tickets are $14 per person (adult or child over 1 year old; children 1 or under, free). Museum members enjoy half-price admission. 

  • Explore Black History Preservation with Dr. Noelle Trent at Strawbery Banke on September 26

    Strawbery Banke recently announced an upcoming lecture titled "When the Lions Write History," by Dr. Noelle Trent, President & CEO of the Museum of African American History | Boston & Nantucket. The event will be held in the Lawrence J. Yerdon Visitors Center, 14 Hancock Street, on Thursday, September 26, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Tickets are available for $15 for members and $20 for nonmembers and can be purchased in advance online.

  • Discover Historic Highlights at Strawbery Banke’s Wine Festival on September 12

    Strawbery Banke Museum is thrilled to invite the community to its largest one-day annual fundraiser, Vintage & Vine — A Wine Festival in Historic Style, scheduled for Thursday, September 12, 2024.The event, which occurs outdoors throughout the Museum’s nearly 10-acre site, heirloom gardens, and historic landscapes, offers guests the opportunity to sample an extensive selection of fine wines and cuisine prepared by Seacoast-area top chefs and caterers.

  • Strawbery Banke Welcomes Expert Historic Preservationist and Experienced Events Director to Leadership Team

    Strawbery Banke Museum is pleased to announce the appointment of Jodi Black as Vice President of Preservation, Facilities, and Landscape, and James Connally as Director of Events. These strategic hires bring a wealth of expertise in historic preservation and event management, reinforcing the Museum’s commitment to excellence.

  • Strawbery Banke Museum Becomes First Smithsonian Affiliate in New Hampshire

    Strawbery Banke Museum is thrilled to announce its new designation as a Smithsonian Affiliate. This prestigious recognition makes Strawbery Banke the first Smithsonian Affiliate in the State of New Hampshire, joining a network of more than 200 Affiliates in the U.S., Puerto Rico, and Panama. As a Smithsonian Affiliate, Strawbery Banke Museum will serve as New Hampshire's connection to the Smithsonian Institution and its vast array of resources

  • Cultivate’s 4th Annual New England BIPOC Festival to be held at Strawbery Banke on August 18

    On Sunday, August 18, 2024, from 12-5 PM, the 4th Annual New England Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) Festival will be held rain or shine at Strawbery Banke Museum. Organized by Cultivate, a 501c3 nonprofit organization, this festival is dedicated to furthering the mission of cultivating conversations and collective action about the important threads of equity and social justice.

  • Strawbery Banke Announces Vintage & Vine Wine Festival Moves to Thursday, September 12

    Strawbery Banke Museum recently announced that Vintage & Vine – A Wine Festival in Historic Style will be moving to Thursday, September 12, 2024. The event — now in its 36th year — has previously occurred on the second Saturday in September. The Vintage & Vine event committee has moved the event to a new date, creating additional opportunities for participation and ensuring the availability of key restaurant and wine partners.

  • Explore Historical Musical Instruments at Strawbery Banke with Darcy Kuronen on July 25

    Strawbery Banke Museum is delighted to announce “Tuneful Treasures - Discovering Musical Instruments in American Collections,” a lecture by Darcy Kuronen, Former Curator of Musical Instruments at the Museum of Fine Arts. The event occurs in the Lawrence J. Yerdon Visitors Center, 14 Hancock Street, on Thursday, July 25, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

    Strawbery Banke is thrilled to announce the arrival of the 1st New Hampshire Regiment for a Living History Encampment weekend on May 18th and 19th, 2024. This event promises an immersive journey back in time as visitors will witness the daily life of soldiers during the Revolutionary War era.

  • Baby Animals Return to Strawbery Banke Museum Alongside Historic House Tours for 2024 Season

    Strawbery Banke is excited to bring back Baby Animals: Heritage Breeds at the Banke, its popular spring event highlighting heritage-breed barnyard animals. In 2024, there's an added treat: Strawbery Banke Museum’s historic houses will be open ahead of schedule for the event, allowing guests the opportunity to explore them during their visit.

  • Strawbery Banke Museum Announces Sweet Addition to Baby Animals Event: Honey Extraction Demonstrations

    Strawbery Banke announced an exciting program component to its annual Baby Animals: Heritage Breeds at the Banke event. Visitors can witness live honey extraction demonstrations on Sundays, April 28, and May 5, courtesy of Dan Smith, Restoration Assistant and Museum Beekeeper.

    Strawbery Banke Museum is thrilled to announce that the Puddle Dock Restaurant and TOUR Golf & Grill are matching all gifts to the Strawbery Banke Fund during March, generously pledging to match every gift dollar-for-dollar, up to $25,000.     The New England BIPOC Fest, a celebration of diversity and the Seacoast’s Black and Indigenous people of color, is thrilled to announce its relocation to the historic grounds of Strawbery Banke Museum on August 18, 2024. This annual event has grown exponentially since its inception and has now found a new home to accommodate its expanding reach.

  • Discover Abenaki Heritage through a Beading Workshop at Strawbery Banke Museum

    Strawbery Banke announced an Abenaki Heritage Beading Workshop, scheduled to take place at the Museum on Saturday, April 20, 2024, from 1-3 PM. This event explores the artistry and cultural significance of Abenaki beadwork, offering participants an opportunity to connect with Indigenous traditions. The workshop costs $50 for nonmembers and $40 for members.

  • Match fundraiser issued for new Zamboni for outdoor rink at Strawbery Banke Museum

    Strawbery Banke recently announced that Rink Services Group (RSG), the company that manages Labrie Family Skate at Puddle Dock Pond, the Museum’s seasonal ice skating rink, has issued a matching fundraiser to help offset the cost of a new Zamboni. Donations will be matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $5,000, from Friday, January 12 through Monday, January 15, 2024.

  • Strawbery Banke Museum and Gather Partner to Sweeten Visitor Experience

    Strawbery Banke is delighted to announce a partnership with Gather to provide baked goods for the ice-skating season at Labrie Family Skate at Puddle Dock Pond. Visitors are now able to purchase a range of treats freshly baked by the Gather Café at the Admissions Desk in the Lawrence J. Yerdon Visitors Center.
