Public skating sessions generally last 1.5–2 hours.

Skate Rentals

Skate rentals must be purchased in person and cannot be purchased in advance.

Helpful Things to Know

  • Tickets for the upcoming week go on sale each Sunday at 5 PM. Public skating and pond hockey tickets may be purchased online or in person, subject to availability. Phone reservations are not accepted.

  • Advance purchase is strongly recommended, as sessions have limited capacity and may sell out. Tickets are sold for specific dates and times.

  • Yes! Strawbery Banke members, participating library pass holders, and U.S. active-duty military families may qualify for discounted public skating admission. Eligibility and purchasing instructions vary. Visit our Skating Rates page for details.

  • Passbook vouchers must be redeemed in person at the admissions desk in the Lawrence J. Yerdon Visitors Center. Vouchers cannot be redeemed online and do not guarantee admission. Each voucher must be exchanged for a ticket to an available skating session.

  • All skaters must check in at the admissions desk in the Lawrence J. Yerdon Visitors Center, located at 14 Hancock Street, Portsmouth, NH, before entering the rink.

  • Yes! Ice skate rentals are available in sizes toddler 6 through adult 14. Rentals are purchased in person and cannot be reserved in advance. Visit our Skating Rates page for current pricing.

  • On-site parking is limited. Additional parking is available at nearby downtown Portsmouth parking garages. Please allow extra time to park and walk to the rink, particularly during busy sessions and special events.

  • Labrie Family Skate is an outdoor rink, and skating sessions are weather dependent. If Strawbery Banke cancels a session due to weather, ice conditions, or other unforeseen circumstances, affected ticket holders will be notified by email and automatically refunded.

    Cancellation updates will also be shared on the Labrie Family Skate Facebook page.

  • Skating tickets are nonrefundable unless Strawbery Banke cancels the session. However, tickets are transferable to another person. Simply forward your e-ticket to the individual attending in your place.

  • Date or time changes may be requested within 24 hours of purchase and are subject to availability. Changes cannot be accommodated outside this window. For assistance, contact the rink at 603-422-0600.

  • For assistance with skating tickets, reservations, or ticketing errors, please contact the Rink Manager at 603-422-0600.

  • Strawbery Banke partners with Northeast Passage, a University of New Hampshire program, to provide accessible skating opportunities for individuals with disabilities.

    Adaptive Ice Time sessions offer specialized equipment and support from Northeast Passage staff. Please check the weekly ice schedule for available sessions.
