Learn traditional skills in the historic setting of Strawbery Banke. From weaving and spinning to knitting, basket making, and historic writing, these hands-on workshops welcome adults of all experience levels to learn from skilled Museum instructors and create something of their own.

Space is limited. Advance registration is required.

  • Weave a Scarf in a Day Workshop


    Nov. 7, 11, 14, or 21, 2026 | 10 AM–2 PM

    Create a handwoven wool scarf on a prepared four-shaft floor loom. Explore color combinations and weaving patterns with guidance from Strawbery Banke’s experienced weavers.|

  • Band-Woven Shoelaces Workshop

    Carve a small band heddle and use it to weave a strong, decorative band suitable for shoelaces or other narrow textile projects.

Before You Register

Please review the following information before registering for a Strawbery Banke adult education workshop.

Advance Registration

Advance registration is required. Workshops have limited capacity and may sell out. Registration is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Age and Skill Requirements

Most workshops are designed for participants ages 16 and older. Individual workshop listings note any different age requirements.

Each listing also identifies the recommended skill level. Please review any required experience or prerequisite skills before registering.

Materials and Supplies

Materials are included unless otherwise noted in the workshop listing. Some workshops require participants to bring tools, yarn, fabric, or other supplies.

Optional materials kits may be available for select workshops and should be ordered during registration when offered.

Accessibility and Physical Requirements

Some workshops involve extended periods of standing, detailed hand work, or preparing equipment close to the floor. Any specific physical requirements will be noted in the workshop description.

Participants are encouraged to contact the Museum before registering to discuss accessibility needs or reasonable accommodations.

Arrival, Location, and Parking

Workshop location and check-in details will be shared with registered participants before the program. Please plan to arrive 10–15 minutes early so the workshop can begin on time.

Parking instructions will be included in the pre-workshop information. Availability may vary depending on the workshop date, location, and other Museum activities.

Food and Breaks

Participants attending full-day or multi-session workshops should bring lunch, snacks, and a refillable water bottle unless otherwise noted.

Workshop Cancellation Policy

Cancellations received 14 or more days before the workshop are eligible for a full refund.

Cancellations received 7–13 days before the workshop are eligible for a credit toward another Strawbery Banke adult education workshop offered within 12 months, subject to availability.

Cancellations received fewer than 7 days before the workshop are not eligible for a refund or credit. Registration may be transferred to another participant by contacting the Museum before the workshop begins.

Participants who do not attend or leave a workshop early are not eligible for a refund or credit.

For multi-session workshops, cancellation deadlines are based on the first session. Refunds and credits are not available once the workshop series has begun.

If Strawbery Banke Museum cancels a workshop, participants will receive a full refund or may transfer their registration to another available workshop.

If a workshop is postponed, participants may attend the rescheduled date, transfer their registration to another available workshop, or request a full refund.

Weather Updates

Registered participants will be contacted by email if a workshop is postponed or canceled because of weather or another unforeseen circumstance.

Please confirm that the email address provided during registration is correct and check your inbox before traveling during inclement weather.

Photography

Strawbery Banke Museum may photograph workshops for educational, archival, or promotional purposes. Participants who prefer not to be photographed should notify Museum staff at the beginning of the workshop.
