Strawbery Banke welcomes families to step into the past in-person and virtually for learning and discovery in the historic neighborhood of Puddle Dock. Explore traditional arts and crafts such as basket weaving and woodworking, learn how to write a historical fiction book, solve mysteries using documents, images, and objects, and so much more!

Rumblings of Revolution Homeschool Day
Tuesday, October 14, 2025, 10 AM - 2 PM
Experience what life was like for people who lived through the American Revolution. Join Museum experts and professional Museum educators as they share their passion and ignite curiosity through a series of hands-on workshops and site-wide activities. Create coded messages like one of George Washington’s spies, take the Minute Man Challenge, become a history detective, and much more.
$15.00 per workshop. 10% off each additional workshop or for each additional child registered. One adult per family is admitted free. Extra adults will be charged $10.00 at the door.

Living on Turtle Island: Abenaki Heritage Past and Present

10 AM - 12:30 PMDiscover New Hampshire’s Indigenous heritage by exploring Abenaki culture! Try your hand at storytelling, learn how to care for New England’s natural resources, build a model of a wigwam, make delicious pemmican, and play a traditional guessing game. Students will visit three historic buildings, including the People of the Dawnland exhibit. Topics include cultural traditions, New England history, geography, foodways, communication, and conservation. Designed for ages 7-11.
Cost: $15.00 for first student, 10% off each additional student. One adult per family group is allowed to attend.

A History of Thanksgiving for Homeschoolers

1 PM - 3 PMDiscover how Thanksgiving transcended time, place and culture to become the uniquely American holiday celebrated today. Try old-fashioned cooking, talk with costumed roleplayers and make a Victorian charity basket. In small groups guided by a museum educator, participants find the common themes of this holiday over four centuries: charity, gratitude and the celebration of family and community. Designed for children ages 6-12. Those ages 6 to 8 years old must be accompanied by an adult. 9-12 year olds can participate without an accompanying adult.
Price: $15.00 for first student, 10% off each additional student.
