Special Scout Day
Scout Day at Strawbery Banke Museum
October 17, 2026 10 AM–4 PM
Visit the Museum for hands-on fun and engaging learning. Come for the self-guided tour, or add a workshop for your scout to get started on a merit badge.

Dig the Past
10–11:30 AM or 12:30–2 PM
Begin working toward the Archaeology merit badge with a simulated tabletop excavation. Use trowels and brushes to uncover buried “artifacts” and learn how archaeologists use objects to understand the past. Visit a recreated privy and historic house to examine real artifacts recovered during excavations at Strawbery Banke Museum.

Threads of History
10–11:30 AM or 12:30–2 PM
Begin working toward the Textile merit badge while exploring how cloth was made hundreds of years ago. Examine natural fibers, weave on a floor loom, create a small loom, and make a woven project to take home.

Making Games for Brownie Girl Scouts
10–11:30 AM or 12:30–2 PM
Explore the daily lives of girls who lived 200 years ago through their games and activities. Create a scavenger hunt featuring 18th-century objects, search a historic house for clues, investigate mystery objects, and try games children played during chores and special occasions.

Playing the Past for Junior Girl Scouts
10 AM–12 PM or 1–3 PM
Step into the 19th century through role-playing and hands-on activities. Complete cooking chores, make costume accessories, learn a historic game, and enjoy a tea party while dressed in period-inspired clothing.
