Knit Colorwork Mittens

Advance your knitting skills while beginning a Fox and Geese mitten, a traditional colorwork pattern inspired by an 18th-century game board. This intermediate workshop introduces the techniques needed to work a patterned mitten in the round.
With guidance from a Museum instructor, learn to read a colorwork chart, manage multiple yarn colors, and shape your mitten using increases and decreases. At the end of the workshop, take home one mitten and the skills needed to complete its match.
Workshop Details: Intermediate level. Participants should be comfortable casting on and off, knitting, increasing, and decreasing. Suitable for ages 16 and older. Limited to 8 participants. Members $45; Nonmembers $55.
Materials to Bring: One set of size 3 double-pointed knitting needles and two or three colors of DK- to worsted-weight yarn. An optional kit with needles and yarn may be preordered for $30.
