Feast of Reason
Saturday, August 8, 2026, 5:30 PM
Lawrence J. Yerdon Visitors Center & Pitt Tavern
Inspired by Thomas Jefferson’s “feasts of reason,” Strawbery Banke welcomes educators from the Thomas Jefferson Foundation, the non-profit that owns and operates Monticello for an evening of history, conversation, and shared reflection.
The program begins with a lecture in the Lawrence J. Yerdon Visitors Center exploring the role of history institutions in civic engagement and the importance of connecting history and civics. Led by Monticello educators Steve Light, Vice President of Education & Guest Experience, and Brandon Dillard, Director of Interpretation & Audience Engagement, the conversation will examine themes central to America’s Revolution and their continued relevance today.
Following the lecture, guests will gather in Pitt Tavern for a catered buffet-style dinner by Liberty Lane Catering. Over dinner, participants will take part in a facilitated small-group dialogue centered on the debates, ideals, and questions of the Revolutionary era that continue to shape civic life today. Limited space. $30 per person.
