Introduction to Rag Rug Weaving
Saturdays, March 6, 13, 20, and 27, 2027 | 9 AM–4 PM
Explore the fundamentals of weaving while transforming repurposed fabric into a one-of-a-kind rag rug. During this four-week workshop, participants will learn how to prepare and dress a four-shaft Harrisville floor loom with cotton carpet warp.
Prepare fabric or old T-shirts as weft, experiment with color and pattern, and weave a textile that may be used as a rug, table runner, placemat, or pillow panel. Museum instructors will provide demonstrations and individual guidance throughout the workshop.
Workshop Details: Beginner level. Suitable for ages 18 and older. Participants must be able to kneel or squat and work with small threads. Limited to 6 participants. Please bring fabric or T-shirts to use in your project or share with the class. Members $400; Nonmembers $450.
