Pleasure Gardens of the Colonial Revival - A Look at New England Colonial Revival Gardens
Join Lucinda Brockway as she illuminates the early 1900s Colonial Revival gardens of the Piscataqua River basin, shedding light on their design, significance, and cultural impact. This lecture, part of the Mark Connolly Distinguished Speaker Series, honors the legacy of Mark Connolly, a former Strawbery Banke Museum Trustee and prominent figure in finance, literature, and politics.
Flag Day Commemoration
In what has become an annual tradition, join Strawbery Banke and alumni from Haven School for a Flag Day commemoration. The public is invited to assemble on the Museum side of Marcy Street at the edge of Prescott Park, opposite the Liberty Pole. The pole, first erected in 1766, will be saluted with a Color Guard, the singing of the National Anthem, and remarks from museum and City of Portsmouth officials.

Now is your chance to learn how people made incredible things hundreds of years ago without factories and modern technology. Use the tools and materials from long ago to create projects. From fabric to pottery and birch bark toys to pound cake, you will be amazed at all you can do.

Step into the shoes of an 18th-century apprentice and learn colonial trades. Campers learn about the colonial era through hands-on activities and authentic experiences. At the end of the week, campers take home a bounty of their projects, entertaining family and friends with newfound skills and one-of-a-kind playthings.
