2008-2009 School Programs Brochure
Strawbery Banke Museum’s education department hosts nearly 10,000 school children annually for a variety of programs. Our school programs have been carefully developed to support specific New Hampshire, Maine, and Massachusetts curriculum standards. Teachers and home school groups can choose from self-guided field studies based on their particular curriculum goals or hands-on workshops led by our skilled educators.

FALL & WINTER PROGRAMS

Thanksgiving: From Festival to Feast
Grades 2-6
November 10-14 and 17-21
9:30 AM - 12:00 PM
Trace the development of Thanksgiving, from the Puritans' holy day of thanks to today's family feast and homecoming. In this active, fast-paced, and multisensory program, discover how Thanksgiving transcends time, place, and culture to become a uniquely American holiday. Try old-fashioned cooking, create harvest crafts, and talk with costumed roleplayers. Small groups led by a museum educator find the common themes of this holiday over three centuries: charity, gratitude, survival, national identity, and the celebration of family and community. Maximum group size per day: 110 students.
