 Wintertimes Past Camp -- February 27 - March 2, 2012

Don't spend your winter vacation cooped up inside! Join us at Strawbery Banke for old-fashioned wintertime fun. Find out how children entertained themselves during the cold winter months as you play historic games, dress up for theatricals, and pop corn on a cookstove. But that's not all! Can you dip a candle? Make a meal on an open hearth? Weave on a loom? At the end of this camp, you will have these skills and many more.  For more information about this and the Museum's summer camps, click here.

Thread: Stories of New England Fashion -- May 1 - October 31, 2012

A journey through several centuries of seacoast style. This collection—shown here for the first time—and their associated stories are brought to life by engaging the work of contemporary fashion designers to develop a dialog on the art, social mores, technology, and ideology of fashion over the centuries.

Remembering Cynthia Raymond

On December 10th, Strawbery Banke Museum lost a founding member of the Guild of Strawbery Banke, an ardent supporter of the museum and its gardens, and a very dear friend. We remember Cynthia Harts Raymond for her philanthropic and community work here and throughout the Seacoast region of Maine and New Hampshire, and we miss keenly her insight, compassion and indomitable spirit.

She was a force to be reckoned with. She was energetic and knowledgeable, enthusiastic and a real leader.

Her contribution to the museum in the early years can't be overstated. As a member of the Guild of Strawbery Banke, she was among a small group of people who found financial resources to sustain the museum's operation. She stayed active in the organization, most recently on the National Council, an advisory group from across the country that supports Strawbery Banke through outreach efforts.

We do know that as the cycle of the year advances, she will be remembered in the gardens at Strawbery Banke. The Cynthia Harts Raymond Fund for Historic Gardens and Landscapes will keep the grounds in bloom in perpetuity.

Cynthia Raymond was a constant, gracious and very generous friend of Strawbery Banke, forever ready with an encouraging word and good, solid advice. We will strive daily to honor that memory.

-- Lawrence J. Yerdon, President, Strawbery Banke Museum
